― Kellie Elmore, Magic in the Backyard
Where will you wander this summer? Will you read a first time author, sort those old photos, grow veggies in a garden or on a rooftop? Join the kids in a game of flashlight tag or float with them on a raft? Will you listen to the wind rustling new leaves, treasure the cool quiet of early morning and the tranquility that comes with the setting sun?
Summer invites us to slow down, unwind. I hope to recapture that feeling of abandoning time and care, let my hands and mind remember the creativity of my childhood days. Those summer days when we were able to "just settle", pull out the gimp, sketch pads, crochet, knitting or my favorite at age 10, spool people, made from wooden spools and scraps of yarn and fabric. The joy of imagining themed groups of people. The sheer delight of designing those people.
Here are a few of our MAC & ME favorites and classics for your summer needles. Choose something small or something big, perhaps something to use that lovely yarn you have been saving for a very special project. Treat yourself to time, to relaxation and rejuvenation.
Please tell us what you are making this summer, share photos and ideas on Facebook.
